Happy chinese new year people!

I hope you’re enjoying yourself, and getting ang pows and the like and generally having fun.

For me, though, it feels as though it’s been forever since I’ve celebrated Chinese New Year. Which it sort of is, seeing as CNY was a year ago. Not to mention that it also falls on Valentine’s Day this time, which brings back strange memories for me.

Like… Packet drinks. For some sort of strange reason, it makes me think of a time back when I was 14, crushing madly on a boy who made me laugh and was pretty darn cute, and that one time I was invited to a mutual friend’s birthday party.

I remember being shy and drinking packets of Yeo’s and sitting down in a corner, embarrassed (for what I have no friggin’ idea, but probably just blushing simply because he was there (= ~ =). I remember the strange dare my crush was forced to do (which just wants to make me laugh because it involved me and strange proposals – I swear, they made him do it purposely!) and I would have said we were drunk, but we only had lame non-alcoholic drinks, so no serious rule-breaking or stuff.

I remember a Valentine’s eve years ago, when I was fresh out on my first ever date and once again, yep, blushing wildly at the thought of being out with my crush. I don’t know if it was ever a date to him, but it sure was one to me! And, embarrassingly enough, I’ve never been on another date with another boy since.

Guess I just haven’t opened my heart up to anyone else. Don’t feel much like it either, especially since I’d much rather focus on my studies and not freak out about getting my heart crushed or stuff like that. Plus, I’m not very brave. That rollercoaster ride of emotions that will surely come along… Nah. I’d leave it to the bravehearted.

Chinese New Year was also a much more happier event last year. I don’t know what’s happened, but there just doesn’t seem to be a festive mood for this season. Recession, perhaps. Or maybe no one’s in the mood at all. I’m not too sure. It’s pretty weird, though.

And thus I’ll end off my strange reminisces, and hope your day is much better than mine!
