I’ve finally fixed the problem I had from using Concentrate (because it blocked my access to Twitter, Facebook and etc too well) thanks to Brian from the support staff. Hur. I had to go to the Apple centre at Wheelock on Monday to try and see if the Apple staff could help me. (They couldn’t. >_<) And my post on the support forum just looks damn fail.

Yeap. Well, in any case, I’ve been feeling really emo lately. Not surprising, seeing as it’s the last lap for HYPE and I’m just really trying to keep going even though I feel really tired and all. I just feel so close to the end of my tether, like I’m about to snap and lose my grip on what little shreds of sanity I have left.

I also end up frikkin’ emo and end up creating weird wallpapers like this:

Hur hur. Yes. I guess it is a little creepy. I mean the eyes and all. But. I mean, isn’t preeeetty? That intense look contrasted against the velvety crinkle of the leather gloves. I don’t like the redness in the right eye, though, so if I’m bored enough I might just go photoshop it out.

And yes… I use GeekTool. ;D

Okay… I’ve kind of run out of stuff to say. Got to get back to editing, we’re just left with a little more to go for HYPE. D:

Yes yes yes! In case you’ve been living under a rock, you MUST have heard about the lost iPhone 4.0 that was recently reported in Gizmodo, a techie site about gadgets and stuff if you don’t know.

Apparently, they managed to get their hands on a prototype of iPhone 4.0 because some poor dude named Gray Powell lost it on his 27th birthday at a bar. It’s so… LOL. Poor guy’s probably going to think of his 27th birthday as the worst day ever, because he’ll be remembered for like, at least a few years for being that guy who lost the iPhone prototype.

Engineers and scientists are going to scare newbies who join Apple (they do hire people right?!) with horror stories of how Gray Powell was strung up by his toes and whipped into butter mashed potatoes for his horrible, horrible mistake – that led to the leak of the new iPhone 4.0!

Check out the story here: How Apple Lost the Next iPhone

So, moving on, the guys at Gizmodo found out that the next iPhone 4.0 has these awesome cool features!

What’s new

• Front-facing video chat camera
• Improved regular back-camera (the lens is quite noticeably larger than the iPhone 3GS)
• Camera flash
• Micro-SIM instead of standard SIM (like the iPad)
• Improved display. It’s unclear if it’s the 960×640 display thrown around before—it certainly looks like it, with the “Connect to iTunes” screen displaying much higher resolution than on a 3GS.
• What looks to be a secondary mic for noise cancellation, at the top, next to the headphone jack
• Split buttons for volume
• Power, mute, and volume buttons are all metallic

What’s changed

• The back is entirely flat, made of either glass (more likely) or ceramic or shiny plastic in order for the cell signal to poke through. Tapping on the back makes a more hollow and higher pitched sound compared to tapping on the glass on the front/screen, but that could just be the orientation of components inside making for a different sound
• An aluminum border going completely around the outside
• Slightly smaller screen than the 3GS (but seemingly higher resolution)
• Everything is more squared off
• 3 grams heavier
• 16% Larger battery
• Internals components are shrunken, miniaturized and reduced to make room for the larger battery

And just check out these pictures! Woots.

They disguised it cleverly as an iPhone 3GS. So wtf right? LOL.

Just look at the difference! I like that the metal rim is gone!

Look at that beauty! I’m seriously salivating over the thought of a sleeker, cooler iPhone. Hehe…. Bragging rights and all, yo.

Thing is, though, these pictures don’t do any justice to the new iPhone. The pictures also kind of make the iPhone look like it’s not as sleek as it is. You can’t see the glossy sheen of the screen, and how different it is from the iPhone 3GS.

The video is much, much better, but seeing as they’ve embedded it in some strange format under MotionBox, I can’t embed it in my post. They did, however, have a YouTube link, so here it is embedded to whet your techie appetite!

And if you’re skeptical about how this might be a hoax and all that… Thing is, why the F would I bother going out to use existing iPhone parts and fit it into a smaller casing (that wouldn’t have worked) just to freak people out or prank them or some lame shit about pre-publicity stunts?

I believe Apple is established and cool enough that, yo, they wouldn’t need to do that. They are teh aweshumz, and duh! They have a fan base who’d get their stuff just ’cause it’s from Apple, and ’cause these toys are shiny and pretty and fun to play with. It’s still your own opinion, though, so whatever. I’m not here to convince you.

Oh, and here’s the kicker: Apple sent an official letter to Gizmodo requesting for their “device that belongs to Apple”~

Muahaha. Check out this link: Apple wants its sekret iPhone back

Alright, that’s it, I just had to blog about this. It’s time for me to get back to my work!

Apple’s just released a new device called the iPad.

In my opinion, it just really looks like an oversized iPhone that isn’t going to be that useful. I mean, no camera? Still no multi-tasking abilities? The inability to support flash? A stylus pen would be a brilliant addition, too.

The name sounds funny, too. I mean…. don’t you think of pads when you hear the name iPad? Lol. And check out the video below. MadTV is awesome.

Though, to give it some good points, there ARE some things that I like.

Things I like

Like, their Notes thingy. I like that sidebar thingy, the ability to look at the list of different notes I’m working on, etc. I can already imagine a Productivity app appearing, making use of the extra space an iPad (the name is distracting… because it makes me want to laugh) has.

And their Calender thing. It looks bloody cool! I mean, you get the Month, Week and Day view all in one!

The iBook app seems pretty cool too, unfortunately it’s only available in the US, so that means it’s not going to happen here for quite some time yet.

And lastly, the iPad accessories. (Which makes me want to snicker, because what kind of accessories do you have for pads?) They look pretty darn cool, especially that keyboard thing. It’s definitely going to be useful, since the iPad (OH GOD THE NAME SERIOUSLY THE NAME) has iWork, so it’s gonna be useful.

iWork:

The price though…. doesn’t look too good. USD499 = about SGD701, not including stuff like shipping, etc. And that’s only for a 16GB iPad.

The one thing I would have really liked was a camera feature. I mean, if you have a camera, it’ll be like – TADA, awesomeness. Just imagine being able to have video chat or skype in your bed. You wouldn’t need a huge ass big heavy laptop overheating on your lap, but you’d have a nice beautiful screen to look at while you chat.

Another cooler feature would have been the ability to have more icons on your dock! Four…. is really not enough. Six would be nice. I mean, there’s space after all. Why not?

But… Let’s look on the bright side.

Ok. So while I was disappointed at first, after thinking about it, the iPad (okay, I’m starting to sort of get used to the name) has possibilities. Let’s say you’re going out for an interview. You can use the iPad to display your portfolio during the interview! It not only looks cool, it makes you seem cool too. For me, I could have used this to show the short films I’ve worked on to my interviewer, so they’d get an idea of what I’ve done.

And in a sense, I guess iPad has a plus point, being that its screen is bigger, as compared to the iPhone. I mean, there’s been times I wished my iPhone was bigger, so that it’d be easier to type and not strain my eyes (or thumbs).

Who the iPad is for

So. The iPad is probably perfect for you if you’re a photographer/designer/film director (or student)/business person for showing your clients (or interviewer) your work/portfolio BUT don’t want to take out your huge ass laptop; OR if you’re a really big fan of Apple’s stuff and want a device you can take anywhere that has a bigger screen that allows you to watch movies, surf the web, for eg, instead of using a laptop/desktop. Here’s more possibilities of what to do with an iPad from Photojojo.

But if you have an iPhone, and a laptop already, then this probably isn’t for you. In fact, I bet your first thought might have been “Stupid oversized iPhone” and feel disappointed because it wasn’t what you expected.

I might get this. One day. If it has a camera function thingy. And have a large wad of cash lying around to buy it just for fun.

It’s a want, not a need.
